Classée parmi the most beautiful villages of France
Source: histoireduroussillon.free.fr
When one studies the history of Mosset, it is mandatory, as in many other places of Roussillon, to look at history not from the village itself but the site on which it founded. Indeed, long before the village was there, the Fenouillèdes was inhabited by prehistoric people who have left traces on the rock called: Carrau or the hole site: Encantadas. At the time megalithic (2200 B.C.), local residents became accustomed to erect stones, today named: Menhirs (megaliths). Roussillon has many megaliths, some of which are located on the territory of Mosset.
